Mole Rats increase Biodivesity
Summary:
In South Africa, mole rats are a main cause for the increase in biodiversity. Mole rats tend to churn oil along with their vegetation, uneaten food, feces and urine. They then add organic or inorganic matter into the mixture to create mounds. Plants do not pass up as a good mineral hotspot. The mole rats also bury vegetation in with soil and inject liquid into their burrows so that the plants are removed from a biomass tally.
I chose this article because mole rats are often overshadowed by different animals and not much people know what special abilities these rodents have.
